9. Legislation for Meteorites
Dr G F Claringbull reported that the Home Affairs Committee of Ministers had agreed in principle to the recommendations of the Department of Education and Science for a Bill vesting meteorites, once they had fallen, in the Crown. Time could not be found in the House of Commons for such a Bill to be introduced and it was hoped to introduce it in the House of Lords. The projected legislation would not be retrospective.

10. Next Meeting
It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the National Committee in the Autumn of 1969 if sufficient business arose.

RECOMMENDATION TO COUNCIL

Minute 2 -----That as from 1 January 1970 the UK should as an interim measure adhere to the International Union of Geological Sciences in Category 7 at 4,500 dollars per annum, and increase of 2,000 dollars on the subscription hitherto paid in respect of Category 8.
