With reference to minute 14 of 18 April 1975, it was reported that the initial L.R/ Wager Prize had been awarded by IAVCEI jointly to Dr F Barberi (Pisa) and Dr J Varet (Orsay) at the XVI IUGG Assembly at Grenoble in August 1975.

Recommendations

5. International Geological Congress - that
i. Professor Sutton be appointed the Royal Society delegate to the Council of the International Union of Geological Sciences meeting t Sydney, Australia during the XXV INternational Congress
ii. Professor A Williams or, failing him, Professor H B Whittington be appointed the Royal Society delegate to the Council of the XXV International Geological Congress

and their expenses to be met from the Grant-in-Aid for Delegates 1975-76.

7. Geological Map of the World
That, in recognition of the great value of the work of the Commission for the Geological Map of he World, the future annual subscription by the Royal Society to the Commission be raised to U. S. dollars one thousand.

16. International Phase of Ocean Drilling
That the following be nominated as Royal Society representatives on U.K. Co-ordinating Committee for the International Phase of Ocean Drilling.
Dr A S LAughton (nominated lest his membership would not otherwise be assured)
Dr D H Matthews (nominated despite the similarity of his expertise with that of Dr LAughton)
Dr G P L Walker (nominated in recognition of major petrological and sedimentological output to be expected of IPOD)

12. Fifth International Palynology Conference
That an invitation be issued, at eh Fourth International Palynology Conference (at Lucknow 15 December 1976 to 5 January 1977), for the Fifth Conference to be held in the United Kingdom (most probably at Cambridge) in 1980.
