1. Resolutionof Council at meeting of 2 November 1905 read, in which it wa sresolved tht ' the Secretaries were directed to make a memorandum for the Government Grant Boards for Physics and Geology asking a fovourable consideration tothe question of making a grant in aid of the continuance od Professor Milne's work in Seismology. '
2. Discussed the arrangements for the continuation of Professor Milne's work at Shide in connection with the grant voted to him by the Government Grant Committee in 1906 for the purpose, and informed him that the Committee had no power or desire to influence him in any way as to the expenditure of the grant.
3. Confirmed to the Director of the National Physical Laboratory that all Seismological reports and observations for the United Kingdom are collected and transmitted by Professor Milne.
4. Discussed correespondence with the Treasury relating to the International Seismological Association at Rome on 16 October and received Sir Archibald Geikie's report on the matter. [Report pasted into minutes]
5. Report from Professor Schuster dated 6 November 1906 on the first meeting at Rome of the permanent commisstion of the International Seismological Association which he attended at the request of the Treasury from 16 to 20 October 1906 was read. [Printed copy of letter pasted into minutes] |
