Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.

The result of a private correspondence with the Chancellor of the Exchequer in whihc he stated that the Government would propose a vote for £1000 towards the expenses of the Eclipse Expedition were reported by the President.

A copy of the memorandum drawn up by Mr Lockyer and referred to in Sir Stafford Northcote's letter was presented to the Committee. Contents listed.

Resolved;
Mr Lockyer authorized to write to the India Office regarding the roosed arrangement
The President to telegraph the Governor of the Straits Settlements to inquire about probable weather and means of landing on the east coast of the peninsula in latitiude 13 degrees 3'
Mr Lockyer to telegraph to Herr Vogel in Berlin, and invite him to accompany the expedition

Meeting adjourned to 2.00 pm the next day
