Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed.

Resolved, that the purchase of two sets of tools by Mr De La Rue for £5 each be authorized.

Letters read from;
1. The Treasury , submitting an estimate for £1,000 for the Eclipse expedition to Parliament
2. The Peninsular and Oriental Company concerning the passengers tickets
3. The Foreign Office concerning the recognition of Mr Schuster by the authorities in Siam
4. The Consul for Siam informing the news of the observers departure for Siam sent to the King of Siam

Bills presented for the chemicals from Mr Thomas for £128-17-8, from Messrs Elliott Brothers of £140-5-0, from Mr Tench for £10.7.0, Mr Unite for £8-8-0 and £52-7-8, from P & O Company for instrument freight of £56-14-2.

Mr Lockyer reported Eclipse expedition sailed in the "Surat" from Southampton fully equipped on the 11th February.

Resolved;
1. Mrs Reynolds to receive £8 for four weeks in her husband's absence at his request.
2. Letter to be written to Mr Schuster to Suez to arrange observations as near to Lat 13 degrees, 3' (near Chulai Point) as possible, and postpone any necessary visit to Bangkok until after the eclipse; also Mr Janssen will be waiting at Singapore to join the expedition
3. Copy of the letter to Mr Schuster to be sent to Admiralty and they to arrange the programme carried out as far as circumstances allow.
4. Instruments be insured with the P & O Company against searisk in the voyage both our and return for £1500 in total.
