Minutes of meeting of 18 May 1876 read and confirmed.
Mr Jodrell had communicated to the President his readiness to leave the arrangements for the distribution of the fund in the hands of th Council.
After considering the enlargement of the Government Grant Fund, the Committee resolved to deal with the Jodrell fund in a manner different from that previously contemplated, and recommended; 1. ' That the Jodrell Fund be appropriated to the foundation of Exhibitions of £100, £200 or £300 per annum for a period not exceeding three years, to be assigned by vote of the Council to persons desirous of the improvement of Natural Knowledge in order to enable them to obtain materials or skilled assistance from the carrying of that work. 2. That such persons be denominated Jodrell Exhibitioner, and be required to present to the Royal Society at the close of each year of tenure, a short account of the investigations upon which they have been engaged, and of the progress made therein. 3. That applications for Jodrell Exhibitions be sent in to the Council through the Secretaries, by some Fellow of the Society, who must state the grounds for the application. |
