Describes Committee business, including a letter recommending that [Friedrich Wilhelm] Bessel be given the Medal, and recommending against the proposal for a subject for the Prize -- the resolution to propose to Council that Sir John F W Heschel be awarded the Medal for his work on the orbits of double stars -- agreement that the purpose of the Medal to reward the 'most eminent advances' cannot be achieved with a pre-defined subject. pp40-1. |
