2. Discussed ' the appointment of delegates to attend the First General Assembly of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics in Paris on December 18-21, 1923; Appointed Sir Richard Glazebrook, Professor F A Lindemann, and Mr F E Smith, the Chairman being authorised to appoint other delegates if any of the above were unable to attend, or to add to the number if he considered it advisable.
3. The question of arranging for a Physical Congress to be held in London during 1924 was considered. Attention was called to the forthcoming meeting of The British Association to be held in Toronto next year, and a letter was read from Professor Field, expressing the view that a meeting in London would be detrimental to the Toronto meeting. After discussion, it was agreed that in the opinion of the Committee it would be unlikely that a large number of physicists would attend meetings both in London and Toronto. It was further agreed to obtain the views of physicists in Paris on this question, and a decision with regard to a Congress in London during 1924 was postponed until the Paris views were received. ' |
