Considered a previously circulated communication from Mr E H Siebs of Padang, Sumatra, suggesting the Royal Society should instigate an investigation of the Orang Pandak of Sumatra.

Agreed;
1. The scheme to receive conditional approval, but the Government of the Netherlands to be consulted for approval first.

2. Mr Siebs to give advice to the Committee on;
2.1 More precise information as to the locality which the investigator should visit.
2.2 What should be his port of entry into the country
2.3 Some idea of the journeys to be undertaken and their approximate distances
2.4. Would it be possible for the investigator to receive hospitality when up country
2.5 With what kind and size of outfit should he be supplied
2.6 Should the outfit be obtained in England or upon arrival in Sumatra
2.7 What would be the probable cost of such an outfit
2.8 Would any assistance be given the investigator with regard to railway and transport facilities
2.9 Can a written assurance be obtained from the Government of the Province of Bencoolen [Bengkulu, Sumatra, Indonesia] that the Expedition will be regarded favourably, and permission obtained for all journeys which it may be necessary to undertake.
