Description | Present at the Council; The President, Lord Brouncker, Mr Aerskine, Dr John Wilkins, Lord Bishop of Exeter, Dr Jonathan Goddard, Mr Colwall,, Mr Charles Howard, Mr Dudley Palmer, Mr John Graunt, Sir Robert Morary, Mr Abraham Hill, Mr Henry Oldenburg, Sir Paul Neile
The President moved that it would be necessary for the Society to proceed to the election of a new Council and Officers for the remaining part of this year. The Charter requires that there be at least thirty one Fellows of the Society for appointing a day for such election, and it was therefore ordered that summons should be issued; 'That there being an Extraordinary occasion for a full meeting of the Society on Wednesday next the 28th of March 1666 the several Fellows were desired not to faile, to be then present at the usual time and place.'
Ordered also, that the Amanuensis draw up for the next meeting of the Council, a fair list of all the Fellows of the Society in order to print new Lilsts for Election Day; and that he have some space on the top of the paper, for his Majesty, and the Princes that are of the Society, and some space also at the beginning of every Letter for occasion.
Ordered that Dr Wilkins be asked to go to the Lord Chancellor and request he appoint a time when the Lords Referrers should meet about Chelsey College.
Ordered that Dr Wilkins and Dr Goddard meet to consider a supplement to the Charter of the Society.
Dr Wilkins and Mr Hook were asked that they look over the Operator's bills, and if they find them correct sign them.
Memorandum; That in case the public meetings of the Society should be interrupted again, the salary of the Operator should be abated for that interim. |
