The Committee of the Council for examing the accounts of the Society for the last year made a report which was approved. [ Items listed - £1209-12-5 balance. £100 remaining in the chest of the Society ]
Mr Oldenburg read a letter from the Vice Chancellor of Oxford to Mr Boyle, stating he would try to procure an exchange of the manuscripts now in the possession of the Society for such books as were proper for their purpose. Consideration referred to another Council, where Henry Howard of Norfolk would be present.
Sir Peter Wyche requested, and was granted, a licence for the Society's printers to print a translation made by him at the Society's request of a manuscript in the Portuguese language concerning the Nile, the Unicorn, the Red Sea, Prester John and the variety of Palm trees.
Dr Balle and Mr Collins were ordered together with Mr Hook to expedite the Catalogue of the Arundelian Library. |
