Ordered after debate concerning a scandalous postscript annexed to a book called 'Lampas' that it be referred to Dr Croon and Mr Hill, to present a draft to the Council of what they consider may be fit for the Council to publish in the next Transactions on behalf of Mr Oldenburgs integrity and faithfullness to the Royal Society.
At the same time Mr Oldenburg was granted leave to print that part of Monsieur Heugens letter written to him on 20 February 1675 which ' devolus on the Royal Society or him his right of desireing in England a Patent for his Watches.'
Mr Henry Hunt was proposed to succeed Mr Shortgrave, the Council having heard the several good testimonies given of his ability and honesty, and received him as Operator to the Royal Society ' quamdiu se bene gesserit' . He was sworn at the same time. |
