A debate about the printing of the next transactions - if Mr Martin should refuse to print as usual the Council should be told about it at the next meeting to consider alternatives.
Mr Hooke informed the Council that Monsieur Pappin was going suddenly to Paris. Odered that in consideration of the time spent working for the Society teh Treasurer should present him with five guineas. Mr Hooke to pay and be reimbursed by Mr Hill.
Ordered Mr Hooke to offer Monsieur Pappin a salary of twenty pounds a year, and free lodging.
Ordered Sir Christopher Wren, Sir John Hoskins, Mr Colwall, Mr Hill and Mr Hooke see Mr Cheiney as soon as possible and view and take possession of such lands as belong to the Society now lying at Chelsey, and to give notice to tenents of the land notice af their actions.
Ordered Mr Hunt to have all the instruments of the Society now in the custody of Mr Flamsteed at Greenwich removed immediately to Gresham College; Sir Christopher Wren and Mr Hook to go there and take what care they can in it; Mr Hooke in the meantime is asked to write to Mr More about the same, and ask to have them carefully ssent home. To meet and discuss this next Friday.
Dr Gale to have the use of the manuscript of the life of Thomas of Becket for three weeks, giving a note for its secure return according to the Orders of Council.
Ordered that the Treasurer pay Mr Hooke five pounds for the salary of Mr Crawley for this last quartere ending the 18 of September and that he continue to be employed by the Society till the next Council Meeting when his continuing employment will be discussed. |
