The President reported on his meeting with Lord Cheyney concerning the strips of the College ground lying nect to the meadows, claimed by Lord Cheyney. Concluded by the Council thyat the best option would be to enclose the college lands on the south-east side next to the meadows.
Dr Croun [Croon] reported that Mr Rossington was to treat witht eh Society for the College adn ground lying abut it, provided he might be secured a convenient passage; whereupon the President reported that there was a small peice of land that lay convenient for that purpose, which was now to be sold. Ordered that the President and Sir John Hoskyns would take care to purchase it, and also treat and agree with Mr Rossington about the concerns of the College.
Ordered that all orders made by the President during his Presidency shall continue till Christmas following St Andrews Day.
In consideration of propositions made by Mr Hook for arranging the experiments for the service of the Society, and particularly the drawing up into Treatises several excellent things which he had formerly promised, the Council as an encouragement, according to the poor abilitis of the Society, have agreed to add forty pounds for this year ending at Christmas to Mr Hook's salary. |
