A draft list of eight committees for the consideration of several subjects belonging to the cognizance of the Society was read and ordered to be offered to the Society at their meeting that afternoon for their approval.

'An Order of the Council
When any three or more of the Council (the President and one fo the Secretaries being two of the Number) are met at the time and place appointed for any meeting thereof, they are desired to examine, consider, debate and prepare any business or matter, appointed to be considered or done by the Council, and report what is by them agreed upon to the same, and to give directions for making and preparing Experiments.'
Mr Martin was aksed if he would be 'at the charge of the Translation and printing of the Astronomical Manuscripts of "Ulug Beig" ' and to send his answer within two or three days to Dr Wilkins, and be by him passed to the President.
Sir Robert Moray and Sir Paule Neile were desired to get from the Attorney General the paper declaring that it is in his Majesty's power to dispose of the house of Chelsey [Chelsea] College, and to refer this, together with the Charter of Chelsea College, to Sir Anthony Morgan.
Dr Merret proposed a suitable candidate as an assistant to the Operator, and as a Collector of England's curiosities, as to plants, fowls and fish, and was asked to refer him to Dr Wilkins and Dr Goddard for further interview
Ordered that the Society's Tube be lent to Mr Moxon to make observations. |
