' It was balloted whether Dr Lister should be excused paying his weekly contributions for ne yer to come.
In pursuance to the Order of the last Council Dr Sloane proposed Mr Jezreel Jones as the fittest person to officiate in Mr Halleys place as Clerke and assistant to the Secretary dureing his absence, It was put to the ballot whether he should be the person or not, it was carryd in the Affirmative. It was Ordered that Dr Sloane should acquaint him with it.
After consideration had of the State of the Society now and at former Councils, It was the opinion of the Council that all the Members of the Society, and that as opportunity offers they would take care to lay before the Society anything occurred to them tending to the Advancement of Natural Knkowledge.
And in Order to the Effectuall promoteing of these ends it is further concluded on, that some certain persons be desired to charge themselves with some performance of that kind, leaveing it to them to agree the subjct and Manner amongst themselves.
Dr Hooke, Dr Tyson, Dr Woodward, Dr Sloan, Sir Christopher Wren, Mr Charles Bernard, Mr Evelyn, Dr Bentley, Dr Lister, Mr Nrewtoun, Mr Flamsteed, Mr Waller, Sir Anthony Dean, Mr Doudy, Dr Grew, Dr Havers, Mr Haughton, Sir Edmund King, Mr Pettifer, Dr Robinson, Dr Slare, Dr Cox, Dr Hutton, Mr Pepys, Dr Wallis, Dr Gregory, Mr Cowper, Sir Richrd Bulkley, Mr Paget, Mr Pitfeild, Dr Cockburn, Sir Robert Southwell, Mr Molt, Dr Smith, Mr Fatio, Mr Aston, Mr Byrd and Mr Bridgman were thought proper persons to be spoken and wrote to on this Subject and Mr Hunt is desired to signifie this resolution to the Persons above named, and desire them to meet the Councill of the Society this day 7 night at eleven.
