' The President proposed whether the Society should make a Present to Dr Papin for his Services to the Society of ten pounds. It was balloted for, and carried in the affirmative.
The President reported that he had been with Sir Christopher Wren, who had viewed the House Mr Bemde spoke of, and reported that he thought the House was not proper for the Society unlesse to be rebuilt, that the Ground was not worth over £250 and £50 the Materials. The Councill ordered thanks to be given to Sir Christopher Wren for the trouble he gave himself in this matter.
The President, Sir Christipher Wren, Mr Hill, Mr Bemde, Mr Foley, Dr Tyson, and Dr Sloane, or any three of them, were appointed a Committee to consider of Ground to build upon for the Society, and to meet where and when the President shall appoint.
Dr Sloane was ordered to thank Mr Bridgman for his Letter, and that the Councill thinks the pitching [?] on to ground [?] will require time, and that therefore they will not keep him from disposing of it.
The like thanks and answer was ordered to be given to his Grace the Duke of Bedford. ' |
