' Ordered That the new porter that is to attend the Door for the Society at their weekly meetings shall be allowed a Gown and Stand with a Staff bearing the Arms of the Society.
Resolved That the Old Man who has hitherto served as Porter to the Society be allowed a pension of forty Shillings per annum till it does not exceed ten pounds.
Ordered that Mr Thomas be directed to collect Such passages in the Minutes of the Council which any ways relate to the management of the Library and to lay the Same before them against next Council.
Ordered that Mr Thomas be directed to compleat the Catalogue of Mr Astons Library before he begin with the Norfolk Library. And that he prepare one of Dr Grews Books of the History of the Raritys of the Society with blanks interleaved in order to compleat the Cataloguee of their present Sett of raritys.
Ordered that Mr Thomas permit no person to stay in the Library out of his own presence .
Resolved that Mr Thomas be bound to the Society in a Bond of 200 pound and find two Securitys of £100 for the Books and other matters entrusted tohis Charge.
Resolved that the Legacy bequeathed to the Society by the last Will of Sir Godfrey Copley, to be layd out in making new Experiments before the Society be layd out in Some Purchase and the Improvement to be layd out for the Same use.
Ordered That Mr Glynn the Instrument Mmaker's Bill of thirty five pound s for fitting up the Society's Brass Quadrant and for other work done be paid and a Receipt be taken in full of all accounts. ' |
