The President shewed the Gold Medal designed for Captain Middleton, with his Name engarved on it and the present year 1742. Whereupon it was Ordered that the Medal should accordingly be delivered in the name of the Society to Captain Middleton, when he happens to be present at the Meeting.
The Minute concerning the intended alteration of the Bond for Contribution, to make it be hereafter for the Sum of fifty pounds, was read and approved : but by reason of the business of the present day, was referred to the final Resolution of the next Council.
Lord Charles Cavendish reported in the name of the Auditors of the Treasurer's Accompts on the part of the Council, tht they had examined the same, and approved thereof : and found there was a Ballance in money remaining in his hands amounting to £199.13.0 1/4; over and above the disbursement of £500 laid out in East India Bonds, which he had delivered, and were reposited in the Iron Chest.
Thanks were ordered to the Gentlemen of the Committee, and also to the Treasurer, for their care of the Society's affairs.
A Report from the Gentlemen of the Committee of Gunnery, in pursuance of an order of reference for the taxation of some blank articles in Mr Hauksbee's Bill for his attendance on them, was read. Whereby it appeared to be their opinion, that the said blank articles deserved an allowance of £18 : which with the other articles in his Bill charged at £13.10.2 1/2 made in all the Sum of £31.10.2 1/2. Which said Sum being put to the Ballot and agreed to, was ordered to be paid.
It was moved that Captain Legge might have liberty, notwithstanding the Time was expired, to compound for his future Contributions according to the Terms allowed to others; in consideration that his absence abroad on affairs of the Government deprived him of the opportunity of complying in time. Whereupon it was ordered that the Honourable Captain Legge shall for the consideration as aforesaid have still liberty to take up his Bond for Contribution, according to the terms heretofore proposed. |
