Vice President presented the President's apologies for absence because of a cold, but that they were to discuss the election of an Officer to replace Mr Francis Hauksbee lately deceased, who was Clerk and Housekeeper, with brief for the Library and Repository and Porter. Minutes of Council consulted; Society elects office of Clerk, Council of Housekeeper. The President had received several applilcations, read and interviewed in order of receipt by President; 1. Mr James Fergusson of Margaret Street Cavendish Square 2. Mr James Horsfall 3. Mr Robert Waddington, the Society's late Assistant Observer at St Helena 4. Mr Emanuel Mendes da Costa FRS 5. Mr Samuel Dunn, who keeps an Academy at Chelsea, asked to prepare a written application
