Minutes of the last council meeting on 1 July 1748 were read.
The Right Honourable Earl of Macclesfield desired to borrow from the Society several telescopeglases made by Mr Huygens; together with the apparatus for managing the same, and the micrometer made by Mr Graham. A particular of the glasses being 4 in number, and the appartus belonging to them was read.
It was resolved and ordered unanimously that the glases, apparatus and micrometer would be lent to His Lordship, which the President promised to do accordingly.
A petition was read of the Reverend James Bradley D.D, his Majesty's Astronomer, and of the President and Council of the Society as visitors of the Royal Observatory at Greenwich to the Lords of the Admiralty, considering the instruments needed for the use of the said Observatory. The petition was approved
