Letter read by the President from the Spanish Ambassador, ' dated London 22 August 1766 signifying the consent of the King of Spain, that Father Boscovich and another Jesuit as his assistant might go to California to observe the transit of Venus 1769; provided that they go in a Spanish vessel. And it is the intention that some of His Catholic Majesty's subjects should accompany Mr Boscovich to profit by the lights, and knowledge, which such an occasion will procure. '

Three medals to be to be bestowed on St Andrew's Day next; to Edward Delaval FRS for his Experiments and Observations on the Agreement between the specific gravities of the several metals, and their colours when united to Glass, as well as those of other preparations; to Williwm Brownrigg MD FRS for an Experimental Enquiry into the Mineral, Elastic Spirit, or air contained in Spa Water, as well as into the Mephitic Qualities of this Spirit; and to the Honourable Henry Cavendish Esq FRS for his late curious experiments on Factitious Air.
