' The Minutes of the last Council were read.
Ordered. That Mr Maskelyne be desired to wait upon Sir Edward Hawke, and acquaint him, that the Council apprehending some difficultys in leaving an Observer at Cherry Island on account of the want of a Port there; and being solilcitous about the affair; wish some expedient could be thought of to effect it, whether by the addition of a Cutter, or any other convenient way.
The Astronomer Royal having communicated a letter from Mr Beddington of the Office of Ordnance, mentioning, that the late bill for printing the Observations at Greenwich, has been ordered to be paid; and that the principal Officers there desire to have six copies of them for the use of the Board.
Ordered. That Mr Maskelyne be desired to transmit the same.
Ordered. That the Observations in the Societys house lately printed by Mr Lister, be delivered to Mr Richardson, he giving his receipt for the sames.
Ordered That Mr Bird deliver the Quadrant ordered by the Society, to the Astronomer royal. ' |
