' The Minutes of the last Meeting were read.

Ordered. That Earl Stanhope have delivered to him such volumes of the Transactions as he has not yet received, and which remain in the possession of the Clerk.

Resolved, that the President be desired to wait upon the Danish Minister; acquainting him with the Society's intentions of sending observers to the North Cape; and requesting the protection of the Danish Majesty there; and such previous information with regard to the Harbours and Ports, as may be necessary to forward the business.

The Astronomer Royal reported that he had seen Sir Edward Hawke, who had told him that it would be impracticable to have the Observation which was proposed at Cherry Island; and had referred him to confer with Captain Campbell concerning Spitzbergen, which Mr Maskelyne proposed instead of it.

Mr Mason attending, and requesting to have fifty pounds advanced him upon account, it was ordered by Ballot accordingly. '
