DescriptionPrinted minutes containing matters laid before Council, the Royal Society's governing body of Fellows, with records of decisions taken.

Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; John George Children; William Clift; Benjamin Gompertz; George Bellas Greenough; Charles Konig; William George Maton; William Hasledine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; Reverend Richard Sheepshanks; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Letter from Mr. Few on a claim for tithes at Mablethorpe, the Society to be guide by the arrangements in the letter. The Secretary to apply to the Lords of the Admiralty to direct that the Observations on Tides should be printed at public expense. Treasurer's statement on the Society's Finances, including disbursements, income, admissions fees and investment funds, concluding that the current deficit was set to increase. Treasurer authorised by power of attorney to sell £2,500 of stock to meet the current year deficit. List of bills for printing, engraving, books and other expenses. Report of the Committee on the rooms requested by the Geological Society, noting the spaciousness of the first floor rooms, but the lack of direct access, which could only be by bridge or outer gallery from the Royal Society apartments.
