Commencing with a list of Council members present: Charles Frederick Barnwell; John George Children; Dr. Henry Holland; Reverend Dr. Philip Jennings; Charles Konig; Charles Lyell; Herbert Mayo; Roderick Impey Murchison; Sir John Rennie; Peter Mark Roget; Reverend William Whewell; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair.

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Extension of time for admission to the Fellowship granted to Richard Saumarez. Repeal of Statutes and parts of Statutes relating to the Assistant Secretary's responsibilities. Letter from Dr. Prout on the construction of a barometer for the Royal Society, Mr. Newman directed to finish the instrument, the method of reading off to be superintended by J. W. Lubbock and Dr. Prout. Balloting for Foreign Members: M. Elie de Beaumont, Frederick Cuvier, M. Flourens, Professor Hansen and Dr. Rosenberger selected.
