Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting read and approved. Professor Owen, as a new Member of Council, made and subscribed to the declaration in lieu of the oath. Report from John Oakley, 10 Waterloo Place, Pall Mall, 27 January 1863, to the Treasurer of the Royal Society, full text entered into the minutes: on the condition of the Royal Society's lands at Mablethorpe and possible tenants: the seal of the Royal Society was affixed to copies of a notice to quit and give up occupation to be served on the widow and executors of the late tenant. Report of the Government Grant Committee, in the form of minutes of the meeting of 18 February 1863, full text entered into the minutes: list of applications for grants, with recommendations for awards, confirmed by Council. Report of the Committee on the Rumford Medal, full text entered into the minutes: noting alterations to the designs of Mr. Wiener, draft inscriptions and a wreath motif to be approved by Mr. Westmacott; the report adopted and the work to be executed by Mr. Wiener for £100 to be defrayed from the Rumford Medal Fund.
