Among matters discussed or noted:
1. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and signed as correct.
2. List of candidates selected and recommended for election to the Fellowship, the Assistant Secretary authorised to release this to the public press.
3. Amended draft letter, Secretaries of the Royal Society, 23 February 1905, to the Secretary, H.M. Treasury, full text entered into the minutes: on the future control of the Meteorological Service.
4. Draft letter, Secretaries of the Royal Society, February 1905, to the Under Secretary of State, India Office, full text entered into the minutes: objecting to the proposed diversion of funds from the Indian Trigonometrical and Geodetic Survey.
5. International Catalogue Committee re-appointed to report on the present position of the Catalogue.
6. Report of the Seismology Committee: Council recommends the H.M. Government accepts the invitation of the German Government to join the International Seismic organisation, under stated conditions.
7. Report of the Eros Committee, including the recommendation of a grant of £100 for Mr. Hinks' scheme, approved and transmitted to Government Grant Board A.
8. The Royal Society's power to nominate two workers for posts at the Monte Rosa Laboratory and Hostel referred to the Sectional Committee on Physiology.
9. Treasurer reported that the Antarctic Joint Finance Committee had voted sums of £400 and £120 to the Royal Society for reducing and publishing the magnetic and other results from the National Antarctic Expedition, with the assistance of the observer, Mr. L. Bernacchi: the projected application for publication of meteorology results deferred.
10. Professor Meldola, Dr. Ludwig Mond and Professor Tilden appointed delegates to the Sixth International Congress of Applied Chemistry.
11. Suggested candidates for Foreign Membership of the Royal Society considered and new names added to the Suggestion Book.
12. Professor Larmor gave notice of an amendment to Section 13 of the Statutes, on elections.
13. Messrs Dulau to be approached on sale of the Society's publications, in response to Sir Archibald Geikie's proposal.
14. Treasurer empowered to spend up to £25 for tables to be used at Council meetings. |
