Citation | Monsr L'Abbe de la Grive Mathematician at Paris, and Member of the Academy of Arts. This Gentleman very earnestly desiring to become a Member of this Society, is recommended by the following Certificate 'We whose Names are underwritten being Members of the Royal Society of London do Certify, That Monsr L'Abbe de la Grive hath made a Plan of the City of Paris, which hath appear'd very Exact, & Executed with a great deal of Care & Judgement; that he hath already done part of another Plan after the Same manner of the Country round about Paris; That he is Actually chosen by the king in Conjunction with other Mathematicians to lay down that Portion of the Circle Parallel to the Equator which runs Cross France passing thro' the Observatory at paris and Moreover that he is an Ecclesiastick of Good Morals; dated at Paris May 22 1733 de Girardin; Fontenelle; Cassini; Geoffroy' In regard to which Certificate we have likewise Subscribed our Names, recommending him to the Society. |
