TitleGuignes, Joseph de: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationM Joseph de Guignes, Interpreter for Oriental Languages in the King's Library at Paris.
This Gentleman having for many years applied himself to enquiries into the History of the East, taken from the Original Authors; and having set forth in the plan of his History of the Huns and of the people that are derived from them, every thing that one might expect from a book so considerable, which he has ready for the Press; We have thought that we ought to bear our testimony, that he is perfectly worthy of filling a place among the Foreign Members of the Royal Society of London. In Witness whereof we have signed our Names this 16th day of March 1751.
