Title | Rasumousky, Cyrille Grigoryevitch: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Both citations and sets of proposers on one certificate |
Citation | Count Cyrille Rasoumossky, Hetman of Little Russia, Chamberlain to Her Imperial Majesty of all the Russias, President of the Academy of Sciences at St Petersburgh, Leutenant-Colonel [sic] of Her Imperial Majesties Life-Guards, Knight of the Orders of St Andrew and St Alexander; of the Polish Order of the White Eagle, and of the Holstin Order of St Anna, being desirous of becoming a Member of the Royal Society at London: We whose Names are hereunto Subscribed heartily recommend Him as a Nobleman of great Merit, a Protector and Encourager of Learning: and who loves and Cherishes these Philosophical and Mathematical Enquiries which are the principal Objects of the Royal Societys Attention. His great Character and the high Offices he occupies, and particularly as President of the Imperial Academy at St Petersburgh, renders it unnecessary to add any thing further, but that we hope this Election may be the happy Means of producing such a close Union and Correspondence between the two Societys as may prove to the Advantage of both |
From my Personal knowledge of , and the Acquaintance I had the honour to have with His Excellencie Count Rosamowsky during my Embassie at the Imperial Court of Russia, I am glad of the Opportunity of doing Justice to his Merit in the Signing this Recommendation |
Proposers | M Guy Dickens, His Majesty's Envoy Extraordinary to the Empress of Russia; Ja Mounsey Physician to the Empress of Russias Armees; Le Comte de Czernichew; Gustavus Brander |
