Notes | In JBO/27 the follwing is recorded;
On 28 February 1771, page 450, it was recorded; 'Philip Stephens Secretary of the Admiralty, John Frere of Bedford and James Petty of Brewer Street Golden Square, Esquires, were recommended for Election; and the certificates in their favour were ordered to be fixed in the publick meeting room. Mr Stephens certificate was signed by Daniel Wray, John Campbell, Gowin Knight, Patrick Murdoch, Charles Morton and John Walsh. '
On 6 June 1771, page 507 it was recorded; ' Philip Stephens Secretary of the Admiralty, James Petty Esq and John Frere Esq formerly recommended as cand8idates were separately put to the ballot, and elected Fellows. '
On 13 June 1771 page 512 it was recorded; ' Philip Stephens Esquire Secretary of the Admiralty lately elected into the Society having paid his admission fee and the further sum of 26 Guineas in lieu of contributions, signed the obligation in the Charter, and was admitted Fellow. '
