| Citation | Captain Chesney, of the Royal Artillery a Gentleman well versed in general Sciences and Literature, and who has lately made a survey of the River Euphrates from Bir to Bassora with a view to the Introduction of Steam Navigation thereon, and this to facilitate the communication with India, being desirous of becoming a Fellow of the Royal Society, we the undersigned do from our personal knowledge recommend Him as highly deserving of that honour and likely to become a valuable and useful member of the Society |
