Title | Godman, Frederick Du Cane: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Citation | FLS, FGS, MES. Distinguished by his researches into the Fauna of Central America, the exploration of which he commenced when travelling in that country in the year 1864. In conjunction with Mr Salvin, he originated the "Biologia Centrali-Americana" which is in course of publication and to which he himself contributes portions relating to the Birds and Lepidoptera. The results of his zoological travels in Norway, the Azores and Canary Islands were published by him in the "Ibis", the "Proceedings of the Zoolog Society" and in his "Natural History of the Azores" (1870). He promotes the progress of biological science in all its branches. |
