Citation | Palaeontologist to the Geological Survey of England and Wales. For 25 years on the Staff of the Survey. Recipient of the Wollaston Donation Fund of the Geological Society, in 1884. Author of numerous papers on Palaeontological and Biological Subjects, of which the following are some of the more important: - 'On the Skull, Brain and Auditory Organ of a New Species of Pterosaurian ('Scaphognathus Purdoni')' (Phil Trans, 1888); 'On a Gigantic Species of Bird ('Gastornis Klaassenii) from the Lower Eocene' (Trans Zool Soc, 1886); twenty-six papers on 'retaceous Fishes and Tertiary Vertebrata' (in Quart Journ Geol Soc, and Geol Mag, 1876-1890); 'On the Structure of the Eye of the Lobster and on the Brain of the Cockroach' (Quart Journ Micros Sci, 1873-1879). Also the following Memoirs of the Geological Survey: - 'The Chimoeroid Fishes of the British Cretaceous Rocks' (1878); and 'The Vertbrata of the Forest Bed Series of Norfolk and Suffolk.' |
