Title | Balfour, Henry: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Citation | The development of the Pitt Rivers Museum has been his life work. Has published memoirs on decorative art, musical instruments, fire-making, composite bow, etc, illustrating technique, distribution and evolution with admirable precision. Has collected stone implements from Zambesi Valley and made other archaeological investigations. Is now studying the Nagas in Assam. His papers exhibit painstaking accuracy and wide outlook; these and his museum work have earned for him a foremost place among ethnologists. |
