Description | Date stamp on reverse |
Citation | Has done important work on various branches of mathematical physics, especially (a) On the Theory of Viscous Motion - 'Steady Rotation of a Solid of Revolution in a Viscous Fluid' (Proc Lond Math Soc); 'Steady Rotation of two Cylinders in a Viscous Fluid Motion of Ellipsoidal Particles in a Viscous Fluid' (Proc Roy Soc etc); (b) On the Theory of Elasticity - 'Plain Stress and Plain Strain in Bipolar Coordinates' (Phil Trans, A, 221, etc). Has also published a number of papers on the Theory of Spherical and Allied Harmonics in the Proceedings of the London and Edinburgh Mathematical Societies. Latterly he has devoted much attention to Einstein's Theory of Relativity and has elucidated a number of points of importance in this subject - 'The Field of an Electron on Einstein's Theory' (Proc Roy Soc, 1921). |
