Citation | Distinguished for his extensive researches in the measurement of the viscosity of gases and investigations of atomic and molecular dimensions based on these measurements. Author of more than 20 papers on this subject, as well as about 20 in other branches of Physics, including photo-electricity, photo-telephony, the photographic recording and reproduction of sounds, and (with Professor Trouton) on the electrical resistance of moving matter. Has been engaged since 1928 in the investigation and application of physical methods of determining underground structure, and has made several visits abroad in this connection. Is now in charge of instruction and research in Applied Geophysics. |
