Citation | Distinguished as a Biochemist and for his work in Plant Physiology. His researches on the plant fats and waxes have brought order into a subject which was previously obscure and confused and have thrown new light on an important aspect of plant metabolism. His work on the proteins of leaves is of great importance both in its physiological and agricultural aspects and includes the remarkable achievement of the isoloation of asparagine and glutamine by enzymic digestion. He has been invited to deliver the Silliman Lectures at Yale University in 1938. |
