Title | Hartley, Percival: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Citation | Distinguished for his original investigations in biochemistry and for his contributions to the methods of preparation and assay of therapeutic substances of serological origin suitable for use as International Standards. The author of 41 published papers, principally on fat metabolism, the biochemistry of immunity, the preparation of bacterial toxins and anti-toxins of standard potency and the most appropriate methods for their accurate standardisation. His work on biological standards, apart from its intrinsic merit, is of greater international importance to medicine and bacteriology. |
