| Citation | Assistant Keeper of Entomology, British Museum (Natural History). Author of nearly 100 papers, faunistic and biological. In 1908-1909 studied the ecological conditions of Seychelles insects, living alone for nine months in the high jungles. The collections amounted to over 300,000 specimens. Their study revealed an unexpected fauna, described in ten papers by Dr Scott and over 90 edited by him. His 'General Conclusions' form an important contribution to animal biology and the problem of former land connexions (Trans Linn Soc 19, 307-391, 1933). He has led expeditions to Abyssinia (1926) and then Yemen (1937). He specialises on Coleoptera and Nycteribiidae (10 papers) and other contributions extended to most groups of insects. |
