Citation | Mr Farren is now Director of the Royal Aircraft Establishment. He combines in a most unusual degree knowledge of the fundamental scientific background of aeronautical work, skill as a designer and administrative wisdom and efficiency. He has been engaged in aeronautical research continuously since 1914. Before joining the Air Ministry scientific staff, he was a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and during that period was personally responsible for much of the design work, instrumental and otherwise, essential to the success of the researches carried onin the School of Aeronautics. Before his present appointment, Mr Farren was Director of Technical Development at the Air Ministry. In this position his exceptional technical ability, wide knowledge of the aircraft industry and sound practical judgement had a great effect in stimulating technical progress. He has undoubtedly contributed greatly to the advance of recent years in the science and practice of aeronautics. |
