Title | Mann, Frederick George: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Dr. Mann is an investigator who has carried out a long series of original investigations in the field of stereochemistry. In particular his studies on complex metallic salts, and on the organic compounds of arsenic, phosphorus and antimony, are widely recognised as outstanding. In recent years he has extended this work by developing novel syntheses of cyclic arsenic, phosphorus and antimony compounds; these have led, among other things, to the discovery of new chemotherapeutic agents. Other recent work of distinction includes studies on carbonyl reactivity in thio-indigold dyes and on natural substances. He has published more than ninety original papers and is a recognised authority on stereochemistry. |
