Citation | Chief geologist to the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. Distinguished for his stratigraphical work in relation to oil-fields. Has a wide grasp of the structural conditions that affect the accumulation of oil in reservoirs, and has had great experience and responsibility for development of oil-fields in Persia and elsewhere. Has instigated and with great persistence led the search which has resulted in the discovery of oil-fields in Britain. Has organised with great ability the use of Geological and Geophysical methods of exploration and has focussed these methods to the unravelling of difficult geological structure.
