TitleRushton, William Albert Hugh: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationDistinguished for his researches into the process of excitation in nerve and muscle. His earliest work on the effects of currents flowing at different angles to a nerve gave a new precision to some of the principles governing excitation. All his work shows similar powers of analysis and he has made various important contributions in this field. His recent studies on the nerve cord of the earthworm are an ingenious attack on fresh problems. A list of papers is appended.
