Citation | Distinguished for his studies of the sense organs and central nervous system of invertebrates. He has made important contributions to our knowledge of the mechanism of hearing in insects. He has recently extended these studies to an investigation of hearing in man; he has demonstrate the high selectivity of the resonant elements in the ear and made an important contribution to the theory of the auditory functions.
