Citation | Professor of Civil Engineering in the University of London, at Imperial College. Distinguished as teacher of Civil Engineering, and for theoretical and experimental contributions to the theory of structures. Has published over sixty original papers dealing with scientific and technical aspects of this subject in relation to aircraft, general civil engineering and ships, including (1) A series of experimental studies of the elastic behaviour of tubular braced frameworks (Phil.Mag.). (2) A series of analytical and experimental studies of the stresses in wheels (Phil.Mag.) (3) A series of experimental and analytical studies of the behaviour of the voussoir arch.
