Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Distinguished for studies on plant viruses, particularly that causing turnip yellow mosaic; determination of the structure of this virus, and of its associated non-infectious protein. Analysis of ribonucleic acids from plant viruses has shown that there are large variations among those from unrelated viruses. Those from related viruses are very similar. The importance of nucleic acids in virus multiplication has been indicated. Many polynucleotides have been isolated from nucleic acids for the first time, and their structures have been determined by new methods. This work has contributed considerably to our knowledge of nucleic acid structure. A list of 41 publications is appended. |
