Title | Fevre, Raymond James Wood Le: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Certificate of Election |
Citation | He has built up almost single-handedly our knowledge of the anisotrophy of polarisability of organic molecules to a point at which it can usefully guide chemical theories. He has also made extensive application of dipole-moment measurements to problems of electronic and stereochemical constitution. His earlier work includes contributions, now standard enough to be found in many text books, on polar and steric effects on the orientation of aromatic substitution, and on stereoisomerism arising from restricted rotation in the diphenyl series. |
