Description | Certificate of Election |
Citation | Distinguished for his research work and wide knowledge of the structure of metals and alloys. Has played an important part in applying the ideas of electron theory to the understanding of metals and alloys, and has determined the equilibrium diagrams of many difficult systems. This work has included the perfection of elegant methods for the extraction of single crystals from alloys. Professor Raynor is the author of a book on the electron theory of metals, and has done most valuable work in introducing the ideas of metal physics to industrial metallurgists.
